The Dinosaur egg : a Kinder Surprise
"The idea of my work came from the series of chidren's toys Kinder-Surprise,a Chinese Castor??I am touched by this set of toys which present an exotism and the Chinese imaged by Westerns. There are the Four Great Inventions of Ancient China and their daily life. I took these existing images to recreate by enlarging every figure of persons from 3cm to 50cm (the height of child), the chocolate egg is considered as Birth? the chocolate melted away on the floor is like the black soil of Chinese earth. These little Chinese gush from chocolate eggs, to head out of the national door. I extend this meaning as the issue of Chinese immigration.
A Kinder-surprise is that the adults transfer their imigination and comprehension to the children, and I use this toy to feedback to our adult people."
